From Donna & Jim Simpson...

September 2011 Update:

It will be three months in a few days and things just keep getting better. Max his started his training with Bonnie and she has said he is very smart and a quick learner. Yesterday she had him rolling over much to my amazement. He has mastered pretty much the sit, down and stay commands. He gets a good work out with Bonnie. This coupled with his daily walks with me or our neighbor is making Max very social.

August 2011 Update:

Well it will be 2 months soon since we brought Max home and things are going well.

He still has a love of the outdoors - laying in the grass, catching flies and butterflies and watching cows. I have attached some pics of him with my sister, my neighbor who visits every week to visit with him, and one of him laying in the grass.

Otherwise he is a wonderful loving dog and everyone who sees him or his picture just loves his little face and personality. When I tell people we rescued him, they can't believe someone could give him up.

All in all we are totally in love with this little dog as expected.

July 2011 Update:

Max is doing great. We have him on a schedule, and he gets up in the morning and does his business "1 & 2", then eats and goes out again before I go to work. He still sleeps all night in our king size bed with us. He is very nosy and investigates everywhere. When we are not in the house or have to be gone for an hour or so we still don't feel comfortable leaving him alone loose in the house so we put him in the crate with his chewy stick and a toy and water bottle. He hasn't had any accidents in the crate thus far.

I was outside today power washing the house, washing windows and cleaning up the patio furniture and I left him loose in the house. I kept coming in periodically and checking on him and everything was ok. So I think he is adjusting to his new home. It took him about a week before he got all his toys out of the basket we had for him, but now they are everywhere, except in the basket, and he plays with them all.

He sits with Jim on the recliner arm until I come home and then he lays with me on the sofa. Of course he takes time to play and beat up his toys also. After dinner we walk the entire 2 acres looking for birds and bunnies and I am getting a real work out keeping up with him. The neighbors all come to see him at least once a week and one neighbor comes to see if "Max can come out to play" (she's in her 70's). Max just loves her because she will sit and rub his belly forever - like he doesn't get enough of that from us. He had a play date with my niece's shih-tzu, Jersey (11 lbs., 2yrs old) over the weekend and they had a great time playing and running around.

Both of his "grandmothers" just think Max is the cutest thing ever as does everyone who meets him.

All in all, he exactly as you thought, the perfect dog for us. It is almost as if we have always had him. He adjusted so quickly to us and loves to be with us all the time - just what we wanted.

Thanks for helping Max to rescue Us - we just couldn't be happier. I have a magnet on my car that says "Who rescued Who" with picture of a dog on it - that promotes rescuing animals - I think it says it all.
